Spanish green energy company Solarig will devote €780m on a plant for creating aviation gasoline from agricultural squander in northeast Spain.
When complete in 2026, it will deliver 60,000 tonnes a 12 months, adequate for 12,000 flights in between Madrid and Mallorca.
Created in an industrial park in the municipality of Garray, it will be run by a 370MW photo voltaic farm and a 50MW wind farm, supplemented by a 100MWh-ability battery.
Solarig main govt Miguel Ángel Calleja claimed the plant would enable Spain guide the sustainable fuels sector.
He called it a “fully circular approach” simply because it will get better biogas from agricultural waste and use wind and solar.
Aviation accounts for up to 3% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. It is expected that a complete switch to sustainable fuel could lead around 65% of the reduction in emissions desired by aviation to attain internet zero by 2050.
The new plant will mix two solutions of generating : gas-to-liquid, which will make biomethane from waste, and electrical power-to-liquid, which will incorporate biogenic carbon dioxide with green hydrogen.
